Dave Bengert (21-11) of Bloomington IL defeated Jim Fosby (19-15) of Pittsburgh PA four games to three in the World Series. It was Bengert’s first STAR Tournaments win. It was Fosby’s first STAR Tournament.

Bengert defeated John Hathaway three games to none in one semi-final. Fosby defeated Jeff Matthews three games to two in the other semi-final.

Fosby (13-9) won his division outright. Bengert, Matthews and Kevin Ferenchik tied for the other division lead at 14-8. Ferenchik was eliminated by face-to-face records.
